Earlier NRI were not eligible to apply for AADHAAR Card. But later Government of India realized the need and approved AADHAAR Card for NRI as well as resident foreign citizens. However at the moment there are no provisions to get AADHAAR Card for NRI at Indian Embassy, outside India. There is no provision to apply for AADHAAR Card online either. Applicants can optionally take a prior appointment for a future date online.
The online appointment is available only at a few AADHAAR Card enrollment centers. If a nearby center does not have online appointment facility, applicants are free to walk in to the desired AADHAAR Card center during operating hours and submit the application. The documents requirements to apply for AADHAAR Card for NRI are same as any other applicant. Three supporting documents are needed to apply. 1 documents each for Proof of Identity, Proof of Address and Proof of Date of Birth. Proof of Address document has to have a local address in India. Anyone who wishes to apply for AADHAAR Card has to apply at any of the local authorized center in India. Applicants are free to apply at any of the AADHAAR Card center across India.
